It has become a time-honored tradition of more than a decade for one of our final NFL mock drafts to be a completely randomized version.
Originally created by site founder Sean Yuille to see if a random mock draft could produce a pick better than disgraced Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen, I’ve taken up the helm with the goal of mocking mock drafts. Here’s how it works:
On individual pieces of paper, I wrote down the top 32 prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft based on the consensus big board created by our friend Arif Hasan. From there, I placed all the names in a hat, and pulled them out one-by-one, slotting them chronologically by draft order.
Last year’s version of the Random Hat Mock got zero picks correct. We sent Jared Verse to the wrong Los Angeles team, Olumuyiwa Fashanu went one pick later than he actually did, and, no, the Lions didn’t draft Jayden Daniels (but imagine?).
Before we get into the picks for 2025, if you’re interested in the results from previous years, here are backlinks all the way to the original concept:

First off, let’s talk about the Lions’ pick. Banks is a legit possibility for the Lions at 28. He can kick inside to guard early in his career and potentially be a long-term tackle for the team. He was Nick Baumgardner’s pick for the Lions in a previous mock draft.
But, devastatingly, the Lions’ pick was surrounded by EDGE talent that they just missed. Both Georgia edge defenders—Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams—went right before the Lions’ pick, and Donovan Ezeiruaku went right after.
There are a few potential hit’s in this year’s randomized mock. Mason Graham to the Jaguars is a real possibility. If Armand Membou falls to the Bears, Chicago may run up to the podium. Could the Raiders be the team to take Shedeur Sanders?
Which pairing do you like the best? How many do you think we’re going to get right this season?
