Milan ruined Inter’s push for a treble and advanced to the Coppa Italia final with a 3-0 derby win courtesy of two goals from Luka Jovic.
Inter pressed forward early on and Federico Dimarco struck the crossbar in the 23rd minute. But Jovic put Milan ahead 13 minutes later with a powerful header and then doubled the advantage from close range shortly after the break. Tijjani Reijnders added another for Milan in the 85th minute by finishing off an excellent team move, giving them a 4-1 aggregate triumph over two legs.
It was Milan’s third win over Inter this season, having also beaten the Nerazzurri in the Italian Super Cup final in January. It was also Inter’s second consecutive loss after the Serie A leaders fell to a 1-0 defeat at Bologna on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Juventus wasted a chance to move back into the Champions League places following a 1-0 loss at Parma in a rescheduled league match. Mateo Pellegrino, the Parma forward, scored with a header in first-half stoppage time. Lazio moved back into sixth with a 2-0 win at 10-man Genoa. Eighth-place Fiorentina came back from a goal down for a 2-1 win at Cagliari, while Torino beat Udinese 2-0 thanks to goals from Ché Adams and Ali Dembélé.
In La Liga, Arda Guler’s cultured first-half strike earned Real Madrid a nervy 1-0 win at Getafe that kept their title hopes alive and left them four points behind leaders Barcelona with five matches remaining.
After Barça extended their lead with a 1-0 victory over Mallorca on Tuesday, Carlo Ancelotti’s men secured three precious points thanks to the Turkey midfielder’s fine 20th-minute effort from the edge of the box.
Ancelotti decided to rest several key players before Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barça, but Real still dominated proceedings. They failed to capitalise on numerous opportunities to extend their lead, however, which resulted in a tense finish to the encounter.
The win moved them up to 72 points in second place, nine ahead of third-placed Atlético Madrid who have a game in hand and take on Rayo Vallecano on Thursday

Iñaki Williams pounced in the fifth minute to give Athletic Bilbao a 1-0 victory over Las Palmas. Athletic are now three points behind Atlético in third, though Diego Simeone’s side have a game in hand.
Celta Vigo earned a 3-0 home win over Villarreal, with the visitors reduced to 10 men in the 37th minute when Eric Bailly, the former Manchester United defender, was sent off for a mistimed lunge on Alfonso González. Goals from Fer López and Borja Iglesias, plus a late penalty from Iago Aspas, sealed victory.
