90+2 min: The tension is palpable! Bayern fling themselves and the ball into Inter’s box but both are repelled. Acerbi and Darmian are heading and kicking everything away.

Share

90 min: Bayern twice go close! Gnabry wriggles free of two defenders on his way to the byline, but his low cross is diverted away at the back post. Where was Kane? Müller?

Back come Bayern. Another cross comes in from the right, Sommer flaps at the ball … which falls to Kane … but the English striker can only shoot over the bar! It was an tricky bouncing ball but he should have hit the target. The goal was gaping!

Six minutes added on!

88 min: More subs, this time from Inter: Bisseck and Frattesi for Barella and Bastoni. Surprised to see the latter leave the field of play!

Share

86 min: Inter are in a low block. Bayern are patiently probing but unable to find any meaningful space. Kane hasn’t had any change out of Acerbi or Bastoni in the air. Müller hasn’t had anywhere near the same effect as he did in the first half.

Share

84 min: Bayern make a double change: Pavlovic and Coman on for Goretzka and Laimer. Kompany is going for it. Fair play.

Share

82 min: There have been two goals in Madrid.

Share

80 min: Inter make another change: Martínez for Taremi, straight swap. The Argentinian has been brilliant tonight, scoring his 150th goal for Inter, and has worked his socks off, harrying Bayern’s defence into a multitude of mistakes.

Share

78 min: Have to say that five minutes ago, I never saw Bayern getting any way back into this game. But we have a grandstand finish to this tie now.

Share

Bayern are not dead yet! Another Englishman scores for the German side, who took a short corner with Gnabry eventually crossing to the back post. Dier had peeled off and looped a header over Sommer and inside the far post from the acutest of angles! Did he mean that?! Bayern won’t care. They are one goal away from taking this from extra time!

74 min: Huge chance for Olise! A Bayern cross comes through a crowd of players to Olise at the back post. But rather than shoot with his weaker right foot with the goal at his mercy, Olise turns and shifts the ball back onto his stronger right, and Inter’s defenders and keeper throw themselves at the feet of the Frenchman. Sommer makes the save. Corner to Bayern.

Share

72 min: Gnabry and Guerreiro have at least given Bayern some energy down that left since coming on.

Share

70 min: Inter are such a gritty side, streetwise too under Inzaghi. I’m not sure that even Bayern have the smarts to get themselves out of this one.

Share

68 min: “Inter are a team brimming with players that had been on the verge of being the very best for so long, I was starting to think they’d never take that last step”, emails Kári Tulinius. “Martinez and Pavard both exemplify that, world champions but not worldbeaters. Now they’ve come good.”

Pavard particularly is a funny one. Everyone remembers that goal for France but you don’t play for France, Bayern and Inter without being able to play a bit. Here’s a decent stat: the defender has 40 wins from his 49 Champions League games to date (drawn five, lost four). He already has the most victories by any player within their first 50 matches in the competition’s history.

Share

66 min: Bayern make changes. Gnabry and Guerreiro replace Sane and Kim. I think that means Guerreiro will go to left back, Stanisic to centre-back. Gnabry is a straight swap for Sané, who has had a forgettable night on the left wing for Bayern.

Share

64 min: San Siro is absolutely rocking! What a stadium this is. God forbid they ever tear it down.

Share

The block doesn’t matter! From the resulting corner, Pavard rises above Kim and nods a bullet header past Urbig! The Bayern keeper maybe could have come for the cross, but once he chose to stay on his line, he had no chance of keeping that out. Bayern are being blown away here in the Milan storm!

60 min: Dier clears off the line! Mkhitaryan tries his luck from range, Kim gets the block in, but Darmian picks up the loose ball, shoots towards the far post … the shot beats Urbig but Dier slides in majestically to somehow deflects the ball over the bar. That saved a certain goal! Wow!

Inter retake the lead (on aggregate)! It’s a goal out of nothing as Dimarco swings a corner into the box. Martínez wins the initial header six yards out, but Kimmich gets a block in. But in a penalty box full of bodies, it is Martínez who reacts the quickest, lashing his shot into the corner from just eight yards out!

56 min: Bayern rush down their right again, with Olise crossing low across the box … it falls to Müller, but the German blazes over the bar from 15 yards out!

Share

54 min: Thuram almost immediately responds for Inter! The Frenchman jinks nicely inside Dier on the edge of the area but slips as he takes the shot, which is straight at Urbig! Bayern a little lucky!

Share

Kane has done it! Bayern are level on aggregate! It was a hopeful Bayern cross, which fell to Kane on the right side of the box. Di Marco didn’t close the English striker quick enough, and Kane tried his luck, shooting hopefully through the legs of the Italian, and into the far corner. Sommer was rooted to the spot, it was a pinpoint arrow into the corner. Poor defending from Dimarco though, an uncharacteristically soft goal for Inter to concede!

Share

50 min: From a short Inter corner, Dimarco curls a cross into the near post. Kane nearly turns the ball into his own goal, with Urbig tipping the ball around the post!

Share

48 min: Thuram bumbles past Dier and from the half-way line has almost a free run to Bayern’s penalty box. The German side’s defenders scramble desperately across, and Laimer is the one to get a toe-poke just when it looked like Thuram might pull the trigger. Inter claim for a penalty, but a combination of Laimer and Kim did enough to put Thuram off.

Share

46 min: No changes from either side. If this stays goalless, at what point will Kompany roll the dice? Gnabry and Coman will be itching to get on.

Share

We’re underway again in Milan.

Half-time reading:

Share

The second leg between Real Madrid and Arsenal is also goalless, although it has been a half filled with penalty drama.

Share

We end the first half as we started. Bayern have had the better of it, but Inter retain the aggregate advantage.

Share

45+1 min: Dier is given a yellow card for a rash tackle on Thuram. That is one of the most blatant bookings you will see.

Share

45 min: Just as he was in the first leg, Kane has been underwhelming here, bossed by Acerbi and Bastoni. But the English striker wriggles free of his markers inside Inter’s area, skipping past a Barella challenge to the byline but a poor cross again finds Sommer.

Two minutes added on for injury time.
