Citron, a junior shooting guard born Oct. 22, 2003, in White Plains, New York, shifted from soccer to basketball in middle school, inspired by WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu. Who Is Sonia Citron’s Boyfriend? A Look at Her NFL Player Partner
Notre Dame basketball standout Sonia Citron has been dating NFL linebacker Marist Lealofi Liufau since early 2022. The two first met at Notre Dame, where their friendship eventually blossomed into a romantic connection.
At the time, Liufau was a senior, while Citron was just starting her collegiate career. By January 2024, they had celebrated two years together, marking the milestone on Instagram.
Liufau, born Feb. 9, 2001, in Kalihi, Hawaii, is a cousin of NFL wide receiver Puka Nacua. He played high school football at Punahou School in Honolulu and was selected for the 2019 Polynesian Bowl. After joining Notre Dame, Liufau appeared in four games during his freshman season.
He recorded 22 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 10 games in 2020. Though he sat out 2021 due to injury, he returned strong in 2022 with 51 tackles, 0.5 sacks and an interception. In his final college season, he tallied 44 tackles and three sacks. He was selected in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and currently serves as a linebacker.

She was named New York Gatorade Player of the Year and ACC Freshman of the Year in 2022. In the 2024–25 season, she earned spots on the Wooden Award and Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch Lists. Her career highlights include surpassing 1,000 career points and a 29-point performance against Michigan State.
Citron earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2024–25, while Miles received both All-America Second Team and First Team All-ACC recognition. Westbeld finished her career with 138 starts. Transfers Liza Karlen, Sarah Cernugel, Liatu King, and Kylee Watson also played key roles in the final season of this accomplished senior class.
