Rory McIlroy can finally call himself a Masters champion, after 17 trips to Augusta National Golf Club.
So many people have congratulated him after the win, including some massive names.
Patrick Mahomes sent his congratulations, and Phil Mickelson even sent a surprising message to the now five-time major champion. So many players have flocked to the internet because what happened on Sunday was historic.
However, the one person who mattered most sent him a delayed message that will pull at any golf fan’s heartstrings.
“Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you’re a part of history. Proud of you,” Tiger Woods wrote on X.

McIlroy did not make it easy on Sunday. He had to play one extra hole to get it done as he defeated Justin Rose in a playoff.
Once he knew he had secured his win, McIlroy’s emotions erupted once that ball fell into the hole.
It was one of the best reactions to winning a golf tournament ever. Fans could see the weight come off of McIlroy’s chest, and it was clear we all witnessed a special moment.
The Northern Irishman became the first player since the Big Cat to complete the career grand slam.

Woods and McIlroy are close, so this congratulatory message does not come as a surprise. However, his words were meaningful because Tiger knows how hard the now 5-time major winner has worked to achieve this goal.
Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers ever, but so is Rory McIlroy, especially in this generation. To achieve something only five other players have solidifies his spot even more.
