Justin Rose has come close to putting on a Green Jacket, but the Englishman has managed only a pair of runner-up finishes in 2015 and 2017.
Saturday, he’ll tee it up in the final pairing of the day holding a 1-shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau while Rory McIlroy and Corey Conners linger two shots back.

Rose’s 7-under par 65 on Thursday gave him the early lead, meaning he’s led wire-to-wire for the third time in his Masters career, an all-time record for the halfway mark.
Here’s a look at Justin Rose’s Masters career.
Justin Rose has had much success around Augusta National, but Rose has never won the Masters.
He has 11 top-25 finishes in the past 14 tournaments and missed the cut only three times in 19 tournaments.
Rose has two runner-up finishes in Augusta. A lone second in 2017 when he lost to Sergio Garcia in a playoff, and a T2 finish with Phil Mickelson as they were four shots behind Jordan Spieth in 2015 (18-under).
Rose missed the cut in 2024 with a 7-over par 151 in his two rounds and again in 2022 when he was 8-over through two rounds. The only other time he didn’t reach the weekend was in 2019 when he was 4-over in the first two rounds.

Rose made 13 cuts in a row over a 15-year span of qualifying for the tournament.
Justin Rose qualified in 2003 and tied for 39th with a 9-over par 297. He also played in 2004, finishing 2-over par and tied for 22nd.
He didn’t qualify again until 2007, but he’s played in 17 of 18 tournaments after that, missing only the 2010 tournament.
Rose has 14 top-25s, 6 top-10s, 3 top-5s and 2-top 3s.
Rose has amassed $4,413,765 in his 19 appearances, putting him seventh on the all-time list of money leaders. Mickelson leads with $9,845,317 followed by Tiger Woods ($9,642,636) and Scottie Scheffler ($7,037,325).
Entering the tournament, Rose averaged a 71.90 scoring average in 70 rounds. After rounds of 65 and 71, respectively in the first two rounds of 2025, Rose lowered his scoring average to 71.79.
Rose tied his low round of 65 in the 2025 first round, a number he fired in the first round in 2021. He finished seventh that year with a 5-under 283, five shots behind winner Hideki Matsuyama.

Rose shot a high score of 81 in the third round in 2004. That year, he shot a combined 7-under the rest of the tournament and finished T22 with a 2-over par 290.
Rose has won one major — the U.S. Open, in 2013.
As is the case with the Masters, he has nearly hoisted the trophy at some of golf’s other preeminent events. He has finished tied for second at The Open Championship twice, in 2018 and 2024. At the PGA Championship, his best finish came in 2012, when he tied for third.
