TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The 13 First Alert Weather Team has issued a First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday, April 2 over the potential for severe storms in the viewing area.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for much of Northwest Ohio on Thursday. Tornado watches for Wood, Lucas and counties west of those were canceled before 1 a.m. Other watches remain in place until 4 a.m.
The primary threat will be 60-70+ mph wind gusts tonight between 6pm-midnight. The tornado threat has increased slightly, as the warm front now looks to stall near the lake.(WTVG)
WHAT/WHEN: One round of storms has already brought lots of rain, hail and loud thunder — though much like Sunday evening, the primary threat will be 60-70+ mph wind gusts tonight between 6pm-midnight. The tornado threat has increased slightly, as the warm front now looks to stall near the lake.
WHERE: All of NW Ohio is under an enhanced (3/5) severe weather risk, per the Storm Prediction Center — and while our Michigan counties are a 2/5, our local forecast remains the same.
WHY: A warm front lifting north will provide a bit of extra energy for the evening round, though lots of added wind shear will be the key ingredient as the cold front sweeps east.
