Boris Becker shared his thoughts on the decision to postpone Novak Djokovic’s Miami Open quarter-final.
The 37-year-old is in pursuit of a historic 100th ATP Tour title and a seventh at Florida’s Masters 1000 event, which would be a new record.
This would also be the Serbian’s first title of the season, but he still has some work to do to make that a reality.
But his quest for Miami Open glory has been made somewhat more difficult given the circumstances surrounding his next match.

Boris Becker reacts to the postponement of Novak Djokovic’s Miami Open quarter-final
For Novak Djokovic to reach the Miami Open semi-finals, he will have to win his quarter-final against Sebastian Korda.
The pair were due to face each other for the first time since the 2023 Adelaide International final on Wednesday, but the match has been postponed until Thursday.
This is because new ATP and WTA Tour rules introduced in 2024 state that no matches should start after 11pm unless given authorisation to do so.
In Miami, Jessica Pegula and Emma Raducanu’s quarter-final did not finish until 11.30pm local time, and therefore the decision was made to push Djokovic’s match to the following day.
It has been met with a polarising response from Miami Open fans, especially those who bought tickets to watch Djokovic play. But Boris Becker has taken a different point of view.
“What do you think happened? It was past 11pm, clearly too late to start a professional tennis match,” Becker wrote on X. “Postponed until this afternoon! Good decision!”

Due to bad weather on Tuesday, an extra match was scheduled on the main stadium court at the Miami Open on Wednesday.
Arthur Fils was due to play Alexander Zverev on Tuesday but due to heavy rain it was pushed to the following day.
Furthermore, the day’s play did not commence until1pm local time, and three of the four matches went to a deciding set.
With Djokovic and Korda’s match scheduled last on the order of play, they will now not be able to play Thursday, and the winner will contest their semi-final on Friday.
