No. 10 seed Oregon nearly upset No. 2 Duke in the second round of the women’s basketball NCAA tournament. The Ducks (20-12) led in the first half and kept it close until the final whistle before falling 59-53 to the Blue Devils (28-7) at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
Duke now advances to the Sweet Sixteen to play the winner of Monday’s game between UNC and West Virginia.
The game-changing play came when Ashlon Jackson said “night night” with a monster 3-pointer to give her team a 58-51 lead with a minute to play.

Oregon hit a 3 at the start of the fourth quarter to make it a two-point game, 45-43 Duke. With 5:50 left in the game, Oregon center Phillipina Kyei gets 2 and the lead is cut to one, 49-48 Duke.
Blue Devils were pulling away slightly with under 2 minutes left to play. They led 55-51 when Ashlon Jackson hit a monster 3-pointer to give her team a 58-51 lead with a minute to play. After the bucket, she gave a little Steph Curry “night, night” celebration.
Oregon’s Deja Kelly drew a foul with 29.2 second left, regaining possession and giving them a chance to cut the lead before time runs out.
Oregon attempted to get off a couple 3s, but missed. Duke regained possession with 7.6 seconds on the clock and a 58-53 lead. After a free throw, the Blue Devils won the battle with a final score of 59-53.

Duke came out of halftime hungry, knocking down consecutive threes to take the lead. With 5:25 left in the third quarter, Duke now leads 36-29.
Duke outscored Oregon 13-1 coming back from halftime, but the Ducks inched their way back and ended the quarter down 45-40.

Oregon jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter, leading 7-2 with 4:42 left in the first quarter. At the time, the Blue Devils were on a 3:05 scoring drought and had three turnovers already.
