Troy hospital shooting: One victim being treated, suspect still at large, officials say

A Troy hospital is on lockdown Thursday morning following a shooting at the facility with the suspect not yet in custody. Meanwhile, one victim is being treated by the hospital, health system officials said.

Few details were immediately available, but the Troy Police Department confirmed the shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital in a department post on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

“This appears to be an isolated incident however the Suspect is not in custody,” police said in the post.

Officials asked that the public avoid the area.

One victim is in the emergency department for treatment following the shooting and the hospital is on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, Corewell Health officials said in a statement.

“Patients with services scheduled should not come to the hospital at this time,” the health system stated. “Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly. No other information is available at this time.”

Among the responding agencies were the Michigan State Police and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to spokespeople and social media posts from the agencies.

This is a developing story.
