The Minnesota Wild found three goals in the first five minutes of Wednesday night’s game against the Seattle Kraken, and that proved more than enough to power them to a 4-0 victory at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., for their second straight win.
Ryan Hartman got things started for the Wild (39-25-5) with his goal just 2 minutes, 47 seconds into the contest. Matt Boldy scored unassisted just 1 minute, 12 seconds later, and Liam Ohgren scored his second goal of the season just 30 seconds after that.
Just 4 minutes, 29 seconds into the game, it was a 3-0 Minnesota lead.
Philipp Grubauer settled down for the Kraken (30-35-4) after that and ultimately stopped 23 of the 26 shots he faced, but Seattle couldn’t find the goals despite outshooting the Wild 34-28. Filip Gustavsson pitched a 34-save shutout.
Boldy scored his second of the night with an empty-netter with 1:37 remaining.
It wasn’t all good news for the Wild, though, as Marco Rossi took a friendly fire shot from Boldy in the first period and was later ruled out with a lower-body injury.
The Wild return to action on Saturday when they host the Buffalo Sabres for a 1 p.m. puck drop.
