ATLANTA — Friday morning has brought snowfall across metro Atlanta, accumulating on the ground and creating widespread travel disruptions.
Several inches have already fallen in the City of Atlanta as of mid-morning. As the day progresses, the snowfall may shift to more freezing rain and sleet with ice setting.
Hazardous conditions are expected to disrupt travel and potentially lead to power outages.
- Friday: Wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain; hazardous travel. High: 35°F.
- Friday Night: Wintry mix tapers to patchy freezing drizzle. Low: 30°F.
- Saturday: Mostly cloudy with flurries possible; breezy. High: 37°F.
- Sunday: Bitterly cold morning in the teens to low 20s; sunny afternoon. High: 39°F.
As the day goes on metro Atlanta will see a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, reducing total snowfall but increasing icy conditions.
- Icy Roads: Freezing rain will make driving hazardous, particularly during the morning commute.
- Power Outages: Ice accumulation on trees and power lines could result in outages, especially with Saturday’s gusty winds.
- Extreme Cold: Temperatures will plunge into the teens and low 20s Sunday morning, emphasizing the need for preparedness.
