The fifth-seeded Tar Heels (20-12) arrive at Spectrum Center projected to miss the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons under head coach Hubert Davis. The 12th-seeded Fighting Irish (15-17) advanced to Wednesday’s second round with a 55-54 win against Pitt after a controversial foul call that led to a Tae Davis free throw in the final seconds.

UNC will likely need a lengthy stay in Charlotte to secure a spot in March Madness. Entering the 72nd edition of the ACC Tournament, the Tar Heels are included in 15 of 108 bracket projections on Bracket Matrix. Most bracketology predictions have the Tar Heels among the first four teams out.
