FC Cincinnati’s CONCACAF Champions Cup run has come to an end after a 3-1 loss to Tigres UANL Tuesday night.It was the second leg of the tournament’s Round of 16. Tigres won the leg on aggregate, 4-2.The Orange and Blue opened the scoring in the 18th minute, when Luca Orellano centered a pass from inside the penalty box and it found the boot of Evander, who froze Tigres keeper Nahuel Guzmán in his cleats to put FC Cincinnati up, 1-0, and 2-1 on aggregate.The goal was Evander’s third across all competitions so far this year, and his second in Champions Cup play.Despite being outperformed in every key halftime metric, Cincinnati took their one-goal lead into the halftime break, but it would be short-lived.The home side struck for three goals in less than 10 minutes in the second half, with Ozziel Herrera tying the match in the 64th minute and Juan Burnetta putting Tigres up in the 69th minute.Nicolás Ibáñez added a third goal for good measure, in the 72nd minute, sealing the win for Tigres.In the end, the FC were out-possessed, 66.7% to 33.3%, and mustered just five shot attempts, with only one being on goal.Tigres were credited with 14 shot attempts, eight of which were on goal.FC Cincinnati now turns its focus solely to MLS play.
