Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro holds the trophy after winning the 2025 Starry 3-Point Contest.
Tyler Herro’s breakout season continues. Career high numbers, All-Star honors and now, the Starry 3-Point Contest trophy.
The Miami Heat star’s consistent performance earned him long-distance shooting’s biggest recognition on All-Star Saturday night. Herro scored a respectable 19 points in the first round, enough to qualify for the final against Cleveland’s Darius Garland and Golden State’s Buddy Hield.
Herro then upped the ante with a strong finish and 24 total points in the final round. He then had to sit and watch Hield, who had scored a scorching 31 points in round one, come up one money ball short on the final rack and finish with 23 points. The buzzworthy finish left Herro hoisting the trophy, the fifth Miami Heat player to do so in the NBA history.
“I got lucky,” Herro laughed after watching Hield cool off just enough for him to clinch the 3-point crown.
Miami’s lone All-Star overcame hot shooting from Hield, as well as the active legend that is Damian Lillard. The Bucks All-Star entered the contest riding back-to-back wins, and a third consecutive trophy would have tied him with Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as the only three-peat winners in league history.
“I just tried to rely on the work,” Herro said. “I worked out before this. All morning I’ve been thinking about this. Just staying into the process and happy I got the win.”
