- 00:00Talk about massive celebrations. Take a look at those numbers out there. The crowds, Philadelphia Eagles fans, they are celebrating after their team won the Super Bowl, smiling, the Kansas City Chiefs bid for a three peat. And of course, we know that even Taylor Swift’s presence going to help the chiefs, the Eagles beat the Chiefs 4822. And you know what? President Trump was there becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl in the event’s 59 year history. To talk more about the game and Trump’s appearance, let’s bring in news desk out of the jail. This is I mean, jail. Put this in perspective for us. I mean, it was a massive victory. Yes, it was. I mean, I think that if you were an Eagle fan, you probably really enjoyed that game considering they light it early and then effectively we’re on track at one point for a complete blowout before the Chiefs are able to, you know, score some in the back half of the game. I think when you’re looking at this from a political perspective, looking at that Trump visit, that to me was pretty remarkable because you look at this in contrast to last year when, you know, Joe Biden actually didn’t even do what’s a pretty traditional pre Super Bowl interview with the press. You know, we not only had that out of Donald Trump, but we also had him attending, you know, half the game. He did leave at halftime and I believe was rooting for the Chiefs at one point, or at least that’s what he said in the lead up to this game. But it does kind of show you just, you know, how significant this game it really is in the public consciousness. I mean, the NFL is just such a juggernaut within American media. I mean, these types of broadcasts, you know, but just blow pretty much everything out of the water. You know, I’m sure, you know, once we actually get some of these rating numbers, I’m usually at some point during the US day Monday, we’ll see just how many people were actually tuned in. But yeah, I mean, it’s a cultural juggernaut, you know, somewhat becoming a political one as well. It’s, you know, really a huge thing to see here. Do we know that Trump actually has an involvement, a history of involvement with the NFL? Right. I mean, that perhaps shows the interest that he’s showing right now. Yeah. I mean, look, I think that, you know, as of when it comes to a lot of things, you know, generally, you know, sort of pop culture related, you know, Trump has kind of, you know, finagled his way in there, you know, many points. He does often kind of riff on things as well, you know, whether it be like sort of the controversial, you know, prior history, you know, whether that be on, you know, political fronts, news fronts, what have you. So it doesn’t really surprised me there. But again, I think that, you know, when you’re talking about what’s really, you know, one of the most watched, not the most watched events in broadcast television in the United States, it does make sense for president to kind of get involved here. You know, as we were just chatting about a couple of minutes ago, you know, I mean, the president does traditionally participate in an interview ahead of time. It’s really that opportunity to put the president of the United States in front of the general public in America, you know, in a really, really big front and center way. And so I don’t really think that it’s a huge surprise that you’re seeing Trump participate and kind of weigh in on that front. I think that, you know, just sort of the added, you know, extra flavor here, though, is that you’ve also got Trump kind of contributing to, you know, sort of a more chaotic scene here with, you know, some of his comments over the weekend and really just some, you know, leading up to the Super Bowl, about 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum. I’m sure we’re going to get more from the president and the Trump administration throughout this week. But does kind of just kind of, you know, cast a lot of that into perspective as well. Just the difference between the game here and then obviously, you know, the president also rolling out some really, really big, you know, uncertainties over economic policy.
