Taylor Swift snubbed at Grammys as star gets unwanted record

Taylor Swift was snubbed at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards last night after the pop superstar was nominated for six awards but went home empty-handed.

There are only 10 artists in Grammys history who were nominated for six awards or more, but went on to win none.

Newsweek has reached out to a representative for Swift outside of normal working hours via email for comment.

Why It Matters

The Grammy Awards is one of the most highly anticipated nights in the industry, and features performances and appearances from some of music’s biggest names.

This year’s awards had a more somber tone as host Trevor Noah and several artists, including Kendrick Lamar, paid tribute to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in California. The Grammys, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, raised more than $7 million for people affected.

Did Taylor Swift Win Any Grammys This Year?

Taylor Swift did not win any Grammys this year.

She received five nominations for her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, and one for her single “Us” with the singer Gracie Abrams from Abrams’ second studio album, The Secret of Us.

Swift was nominated in all of the major categories, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year, and received a nomination for Best Pop Duo performance for “Us.”

Swift is the only artist in history who has won the award for Album of the Year, widely considered to be the evening’s accolade, four times. This is a record she set at last year’s Grammys when she won the award for her 2022 album Midnights.

What To Know

Post Malone and Billie Eilish joined Swift in the record of having over six nominations, but not winning any awards. The likes of Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and Paul McCartney are also on this list.

Eilish was nominated for seven Grammys for her album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, and was nominated in all of the major categories. She also received a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group performance for the song “Guess,” from the singer Charli XCX’s sixth studio album, Brat.

Post Malone received eight nominations, three of which were for the song “Fortnight,” the lead single from Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. He was also nominated for “Levii’s Jeans,” his song with Beyoncé from her album Cowboy Carter, which won the award for Album of the Year on Sunday night. He was also nominated in three categories for his album F-1 Trillion.

What Happens Next

Swift is rerecording her masters, a project that started in 2019. There are two albums she is yet to rerecord, 2017’s Reputation, and her 2006 debut album Taylor Swift. There are no public details about when the last two rerecords will be released, but many Swifties have theorized that they could be released this year.

Though her rerecorded albums are eligible for Grammy nominations, none of the four rerecorded albums released so far has received any.
