Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, made his 13th NBA appearance on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. Recalled from the G League after a 31-point performance for the South Bay Lakers on Friday, James entered JJ Redick’s rotation in the first quarter against Philadelphia.
James’ first stint did not go well, as the former USC guard was a -9 in four minutes and 33 seconds of action, turning the ball over once and missing his only field goal attempt. Not playing again until the third quarter, James’ second stint did not go any better.

Checking back into the game with 2:52 remaining in the third, James was subbed out at the 10:33 mark of the fourth after again missing his only field goal attempt of the stint.
James finished the game with zero points, three rebounds, one assist and three turnovers in 15 minutes and 26 seconds of playing time. The 55th overall pick missed all five of his field goal attempts.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Redick revealed his reasoning for playing James, adding a strong message on the rookie guard’s poor performance.
“I felt like on a back-to-back, just him giving us energy was the goal,” Redick said of his decision to give James rotation minutes. “Maybe put him in a tough spot flying out yesterday, nationally televised game, Philly, all that stuff. He didn’t play well but he’s been playing great in the stay-ready games and in the (G League).”
Redick added, “I have confidence in him, but obviously he didn’t provide that at a high level.”
James is now shooting just 6.3% from the field in his NBA career and has yet to make a 3-point basket in seven attempts. Just 1-for-16 from the field overall, James has struggled with the Lakers.
