LOS ANGELES – A third fire requiring Los Angeles County residents to evacuate from their homes broke out on January 7 – this time in Sylmar.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire in Sylmar was reported a little before 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday night. At last check, the fire has stretched to about 50 acres and officials warn it is rapidly spreading.
Evacuation orders have been issued for areas north of the 210 Freeway from Roxford Street to the 5 and 15 freeway split.
Officials did not say when the evacuation order would be lifted. The news of the fire comes as LA County were hit by two fires: Palisades and Eaton. The Palisades fire devastated the Pacific Palisades while drawing evacuations for residents in parts of Malibu, Brentwood and Santa Monica while the Eaton fire forced evacuations in Pasadena and Altadena.
